Changelog

A chronological record of visitor-visible FuelWatchX improvements. Entries group related fixes and features into readable releases; infrastructure-only maintenance is omitted.

Restored map tiles

  • Updated the map to use OpenStreetMap's canonical tile endpoint so station locations render reliably.

Australian state fuel-price comparison

  • Added an 80-day comparison of published weekly ULP petrol and diesel averages for every Australian state and territory.
  • Added a jurisdiction selector to the Overview, defaulting to NSW while allowing the headline chart to show any imported AIP series.
  • Added prominent NSW-only notices and labels to every Overview panel below the selectable AIP chart.
  • Stopped multi-story newsletter roundups from being presented as dedicated fuel-price articles in Related News Context.
  • Imported the complete available AIP history into FuelWatchX's local database so dashboard reads do not depend on a live third-party request.
  • Clearly labels ACT as the Canberra series and preserves provider and retrieval provenance with every observation.
  • Expanded the FAQ to distinguish weekly AIP jurisdiction averages from detailed NSW FuelCheck station analytics.

Faster dashboards and clearer project information

  • Faster first load: common dashboard reports are now precomputed after each 2.5-hour price scrape and published together.
  • Lighter overview: the landing dashboard no longer downloads the full statewide station-price dataset.
  • Lazy loading: data-heavy station, brand, and patterns views load when opened instead of delaying the overview.
  • Transparency: added a site footer, maintainer information, LinkedIn contact, data-source attribution, and this changelog.

Long-range trends and production reliability

  • Added the cached 80-day petrol-versus-diesel headline chart.
  • Protected public read endpoints with bounded parameters, response caching, and request coalescing.
  • Added compressed, integrity-checked online database backups and safer startup retry behaviour.

More resilient dashboard loading

  • Station data now retries when a visitor opens its tab after an interrupted initial load.

Statewide coverage, patterns, and methodology

  • Expanded the default dashboard from the Illawarra to all of New South Wales while explicitly excluding Tasmanian data.
  • Added day-of-week patterns, brand price premiums, Sydney price-cycle tracking, and ACCC methodology context.
  • Added the FAQ/methodology panel and current cheapest-versus-dearest market insights.

Overview analytics and news context

  • Added average and 95th-percentile overview charts for diesel, premium 95, and premium 98.
  • Added numbered news markers, chart-to-news hover linking, brand logos, and consistent EV exclusion.

Initial release

  • Launched FuelWatchX with latest station prices, seven-day trends, brands, spikes, news, and map dashboards.
  • Made statewide history responses compact by aggregating unfiltered results per snapshot and fuel type.
